Winter is no stranger for vapers in Idaho, but it certainly presents some unique challenges. Cold weather often results in decreased vapor production, battery drain, and e-juice freezing. But with the proper knowledge, you can enjoy vaping in the cold without any disruption. At Redline Vapors, we want you to stay vaping all winter long, so we’ve provided five tips and tricks to help you vape safely and efficiently when the temperatures drop.

1. Store Your Batteries Inside

The biggest issue associated with cold weather vaping is battery failure. When batteries are exposed to cold temperatures for extended periods, you’ll have problems generating vapor production. Imagine yourself sitting outside in the freezing temperatures after your device had been sitting in the cold for an hour. Chances are you’re not going to produce any vapor until the device warms itself up.

The best way to overcome this issue is by simply storing your device inside. If you’re still going to venture out into the cold, you can wrap it in an insulated pouch or pocket, as the extra layer of protection will help your device stay at room temperature and maintain maximum vapor production. Additionally, always make sure to check the battery voltage before you step outside – if the voltage drops, then don’t use it and wait until it heats up until you start vaping.

2. Prevent Condensation

Most people don’t realize that cold weather can actually increase the condensation levels in your device. When using your vaping device near freezing temperatures, the condensation will quickly freeze, resulting in ice build-up in your device. This can cause issues with your device such as battery drain, and may even damage the internal components, so it’s important to take steps to prevent condensation.

Firstly, try to carry your vaping device in insulated pouches that keep heat regulated, and if possible, close off any vents that could serve as an opening for condensation. Secondly, remove your tank or cartridge after usage and allow it to warm up before reusing it. Lastly, try to limit the number of times you vape in cold weather, as this will reduce the amount of condensation that builds up in your device.

3. Try a High VG Blend

The best tip for vaping in cold weather is to use a high VG blend of e-juice. E-juices with higher VG ratio are thicker and more viscous in consistency. This means they will stay in liquid form even in very cold temperatures. VG is also known for producing dense, flavorful vapor, making it one of the best liquids to use in cold weather.

However, it’s important to remember that VG is not a good conductor of electricity, so it is recommended that you set your wattage lower than usual. A lower wattage setting will result in a smoother vaping experience and will prevent your batteries from draining too quickly due to the thick vapor.

4. Change Your Coils

Old, dirty and worn-out coils are a common problem in cold weather. Low temperatures cause the e-juice to thicken, which will clog the burner, decrease performance, and ultimately lead to a bad vaping experience. The best way to combat this problem is by changing your coils as often as possible.

At Redline Vapors, we recommend changing your coils every two weeks if you vape on a regular basis. If you vape in the cold, you will need to change your coils more often as the thick e-juice can cause more build-up, resulting in decreased performance. It’s also important to clean your tank and Atomizer head regularly to prevent the coils from becoming dry and brittle.

5. Invest in an External Battery

If you plan to be out in the cold for an extended period, we recommend investing in an external battery case. External battery cases are designed to keep your device’s battery charged and warm, allowing for extended vaping sessions. This is especially useful for winter camping or other outdoor activities.
